ICC CRICKET HALL OF FAME: INDIANS

IPL: PURPLE CAP HOLDERS

          The Purple Cap is given to the leading wicket taker in a season of the Indian Premier League. The award was conceptualised on a similar basis as that of Orange Cap for batter who is the leading run scorer of the season.  The inaugural award was won by Sohail Tanvir of Rajasthan Royals with 22 wickets. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar of Sunrisers Hyderabad and Dwayne Bravo are  the only players to have won the award two times. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar is the only player to have won the award in successive seasons. Most purple cap winners are from the side Chennai SuperKings to be precise 4 in number. Dwayne Bravo and Harshal Patel hold the record for most wickets in a single season, 32 in number. Harshal Patel is the only uncapped player to have won the coveted trophy.          List of all the purple cap holders since the inception of the league is given below.  

ICC MEN'S T20 WORLD CUP 2022

  The International Cricket Council has released the schedule of the ICC Men's Twenty20 World Cup 2022 to be hosted by Australia.  The tournament will start on October 16 and will conclude on November 13. The seven host cities are Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Geelong, Hobart and Perth.  The tournament is conducted in three stages First Round, Super 12 and Knockouts. The teams in the First Round are divided into groups A and B. Group A consists of Namibia, Sri Lanka, Qualifier 2 and Qualifier 3. Group B consists of Scotland, West Indies, Qualifier 1 and Qualifier 4. First Round matches are scheduled to take place in Geelong and Hobart. The top two teams in Group A  and Group B respectively will advance to the Super 12 stage. The Super 12 stage consists of Group1 and Group 2. Group 1 comprises England, New Zealand, Australia, Afghanistan, Group A Winner and Group B Runner-Up.. India, Pakistan, South Africa, Bangladesh, Group B Winner and Group A Runner-Up will compete in Gr

IPL: ORANGE CAP HOLDERS

            Indian Premier League is a tournament organised annually by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The tournament was started in year 2008, so far 14 editions have taken place. Orange Cap is the award given to the leading run scorer of the tournament. Virat Kohli still holds the record for most of number of runs scored in a singe season, 973 scored by him in the year 2016. Players of SunRisers Hyderabad have bagged the award most number of times - 4 (David Warner in 2015, 2017 and 2019 and Kane Williamson in 2018 respectively. David Warner of SRH has won the award 3 times in the years 2015, 2017 and 2019, the most in the history of the tournament. Ruturaj Gaikwad of Chennai Super Kings is the only player to won the orange cap without making any international appearance.     The following table lists the orange cap winners from 2008 to 2021.  

ICC UNDER 19 WORLD CUP - LEADING RUN SCORERS

ICC UNDER 19 WORLD CUP - LEADING RUN SCORERS ICC UNDER 19 WORLD CUP is a biennial event organized by International Cricket Council headquartered at Dubai, UAE for all under 19 national teams. The inaugural edition was held in 1988 as Youth World Cup in Australia which was won by hosts Australia itself. The last edition was won by Bangladesh making it the third Asian nation to win the tournament after India and Pakistan.           The leading run scorer in the inaugural edition was Brett Williams of Australia and Shikhar Dhawan still holds the record of most runs in single edition of the tournament. The leading run scorers in the subsequent editions are listed in the following table.

ICC UNDER 19 WORLD CUP - PLAYER OF THE TOURNAMENT   ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup is a biennial cricket tournament  organized by International Cricket Council headquartered at Dubai, UAE. The first edition was conducted in 1988 as Youth World Cup. The tournament was not staged again until 1998. From 1988, the World Cup is being conducted as a biennial event.   Player of the tournament was not awarded for first two editions of the event. From 2000 it is being awarded on a regular basis. The first recipient of the award was Yuvraj Singh of India. Most recipients were from India (5) followed by New Zealand and South Africa with two each and Bangladesh and Zimbabwe one each. The following table lists all the recipients of the award edition wise.

ICC UNDER 19 CRICKET WORLD CUP The ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup is a biennial international cricket tournament organised by the International Cricket Council. First edition was held in the year 1988 as Youth World Cup but it was conducted until 1998. From 1998 it is being conducted biennially.   UNDER 19 WORLD CUP AT A GLANCE                   India has won the world cup 4 times followed by Australia 3 times, Pakistan 2 times and Bangladesh, England, South Africa and West Indies once each.  Pakistan is the only team to win back to back tournaments.
